Members Weekender

I don’t say thank you enough

As someone who runs a community, I don’t always get chance to say thank you to the people who make up that community. There’s a reason that I ask you to book a Zoom call with me when you join up – I don’t just want to welcome you to the Tribe and find out how we can help you, I want to say thank you in person for supporting us.

We’re funded by our members and we couldn’t do everything we do without you being there for us. The podcast, the content we produce, the events, our campaigns, the support we give and visibility we bring to the vegan business sector – all that only happens because you are a member (as an aside, if you never booked that call when you joined, or if we haven’t caught up in the last 12 months, please book a call with me here to bring me up to date).

For the last four years, myself and Lisa have also supported the Tribe – subsidising it with our own money to enable us to punch above our weight as a community. After the birth of our daughter Awen last year though, Lisa stepped back from working to instead focus on raising the best possible human being we could. And it’s already showing – at 18 months old, Awen is a bright, confident, inquisitive and compassionate inspiration to everyone who meets her. But dropping down to just one of us earning put huge financial pressure on us as a family too.

That’s why over the last 12 months I’ve been working to get Vegan Business Tribe on a more financially sustainable footing to ensure we’re still here in another 4 years. That led me to the ProVeg Kickstarting For Good Incubator which leads to the second thing I want to say thank you for: those people that have sent me messages saying they have been inspired from watching my incubator video diary. The programme is currently demanding an extra 10-20 hours a week that I hadn’t fully anticipated when we were accepted onto the incubator, meaning I’m not getting chance to respond to all our messages at the moment! But I really appreciate knowing that you are there and you are getting benefit from me sharing what I’m learning too.

If you want to talk about other ways to help support what we do just hit reply. That might be by upgrading your membership to our new mentoring tier or looking to become one of our sponsors. But know that you already support us enough just by being a member – even if I don’t always get the chance to say thank you.
