How to collaborate
with Katrina Fox
Vegan businesses can achieve so much more when we work together towards furthering our joint mission. Katrina Fox is a celebrated vegan author, journalist, PR guru, podcaster and business mentor – founder of Vegan Business Media, vegan business network VIVAs – vegan Women’s Leadership Network, and author of Vegan Ventures.
In this 30 minute interview, our own Lisa Pannell talks to Katrina about how vegan businesses can come together to help both each other and the vegan cause. Katrina first became vegan over 20 years ago and she also shares how her first experience of collaboration was actually when working in stand-up comedy in Sydney!
In this session:
What we cover in this session:
- How 3 vegan handbag companies collaborated to share marketing costs and collectively promote each other.
- How a group of vegan business owners banded together to buy a joint space at an industry trade show – giving them greater exposure than if they had just each taken a stand separately.
- How to find complementary businesses, so that two non-competing companies can sell to the same consumers.
- How One Planet Pizza teamed up with Meatless Farm and Applewood Vegan Cheese to create an amazing new product.
- How finding other businesses that have the same shared purpose aids collaboration – even if technically you could be in competition with each other.
- How independent vegan brands can come together to stand against bigger brands.
- How to find other vegan businesses that you might have synergy with – using social media, business networks and vegan directories.
- How you can find out if another vegan company might be a good fit by following their social media first.
- Why you need to enter into collaborative projects with a ‘win-win’ mentality, not just seeing what you can get out of it for yourself.
- Why you should push yourself out of your comfort zone and embrace business networking – and how to do it well.
- Why being a vegan business owner can be quite lonely and how networking helps you meet people with a shared goal.
- Why Katrina set up a vegan business networking group aimed specifically at vegan women.
- Why having a vegan business should be your form of activism.
