Recap, resources and support

What we've just learned

  • Influencers build up dedicated and specialist audiences.  They have already done the hard work for you in identifying people with a specific need or interest.
  • Few influencers can make a living from YouTube adverts – they need to engage with companies and brands.
  • There are always opportunities for mutually beneficial deals with companies that doesn’t necessarily mean money has to change hands.
  • Influencers need content and you can provide them with that.
  • Most mid-level vegan influencers are a lot more approachable than your traditional YouTuber or Instagram star.  Few consider themselves to be ‘famous’.
  • Use your customer research to identify which influencers to approach.
  • The most high-profile vegan influencers get hundreds of requests a week to help, so don’t be offended if you don’t get a reply.
  • Engage with influencers who are growing and have less of a following first.
  • Don’t contact influencers with a direct message through their platform – they will likely not see it.  Send an email or find a different way to contact them.
  • Already know what deal you want to strike up before you approach an influencer.
  • Ensure your product or company is a good fit with the influencer and their audience before reaching out to them.
  • Don’t be afraid to follow them up.  They have busy inboxes and may have liked your idea but then got distracted by something else.
