If you are using a service like Mailchimp, or Zoho Campaigns, or Hubspot, then you can connect these with any contact forms on your website. This means that not only can people sign-up to your mailing list without you having to get involved, but if they send you a message, or download a PDF from your website they can also be automatically added to your mailing list as long as you are following the privacy and data laws in your country.
Look at other places where you make contact with people and make sure you add them to your mailing list once you are connected. If you make a new connection on LinkedIn, if you get an email enquiry, if you take on a new client, or if someone hands you their business card – get used to dropping them into your mailing list. If someone gets added to your mailing list after they have met you in the real world, make sure they get an email within a day or two before they forget where they met you. Again, the email software you use can help; you can set up a welcome email – or even series of emails – that is automatically sent to any new contact you add into your email list.
